National Museum of Women in the Arts reopens after major renovation
The National Museum of Women in the Arts— the world’s first major museum solely dedicated to championing women artists— reopened on October 21, 2023, after a two-year renovation, revealing a transformed building, powerful exhibitions and engaging public programs. NMWA reimagined its historic home at 1250 New York Avenue in Washington, D.C., to offer flexible exhibition spaces for immersive exhibitions, a versatile studio/classroom area and improved accessibility for visitors.
ACNMWA’s Juried Artist Registry features 40 Arkansas women artists
The Arkansas Committee of the National Museum of Women in the Arts (ACNMWA) is exhibiting the work of 40 Arkansas women artists in the online 2023-2025 Juried Artist Registry. Juror Matthew Bailey, Ph.D., Gallery Director and Assistant Professor of Art and Design, University of Arkansas Fort Smith, selected the artists for inclusion in this biennial registry. The call for applications ran from June to August and was open to women artists who reside in or are from Arkansas.
Arkansas Art Scene Interview with Heidi Carlsen-Rogers
Arkansas Artist Heidi Carlsen-Rogers is one of four women artists featured in the Arkansas Women to Watch 2023: New Worlds traveling exhibition, on display at Baum Gallery in Conway through October 13. This curated exhibition is a program of the Arkansas Committee of the National Museum of Women in the Arts. The other artists in the exhibition are Anaïs Dassé, Hanna McBroom and Aimée Papazian.
